TempSure Envi is a radiofrequency technology used as part of an optometric dry eye treatment plan for patients with meibomian gland dysfunction, one of the most common contributors to evaporative dry eye.

The meibomian glands along your eyelids produce the oil layer of your tear film, which keeps tears from evaporating too quickly. When the glands are blocked or the oil thickens, you may notice dryness, burning, watering, redness, fluctuating vision or contact lens discomfort.

TempSure Envi uses gentle radiofrequency energy to warm the tissue around the eyelids. This controlled warmth can help soften thickened oils and support better flow from the glands, with the goal of stabilizing the tear film over time.

A handheld device is moved over the skin around the eyelids. Most patients describe the sensation as warm and comfortable, a little like a warm stone massage. A session typically takes less than an hour.

Afterward, you may notice mild, temporary redness or warmth, which usually fades quickly. Most people return to their day immediately.

Radiofrequency may be recommended on its own or combined with other therapies, such as lid hygiene, warm compresses, prescription drops, meibomian gland expression or OptiLight IPL.
